Boemklatsch

Biografie

Boem, klatsch. Kick, snare. It’s as simple as that. It was just as simple in 2001 when Boemklatsch threw their first party on a boat in Utrecht. 20 euro’s, open bar, and dj’s spinning hiphop records. Nine years later the group of 7 creative friends has grown into a colourful, energetic collective who give a tear-the-roof-of guarantee to everyone who books them. The crew is known to be ahead of the pack in all types of uplifting electronic music, and they still don’t mind partying harder then their audience.

Boemklatsch strated out as a hiphop crew. When a hiphopact came to Utrecht (their hometown) you could be sure it was Boemklatsch that brought them there. The climax in their hiphop days was a sold out Tivoli venue with a line up of just friends from the Utrecht scene. Together with oa C-mon & Kypski and Nobody beats the Drum they rocked the crowd, and the roof came of for the first time.

From 2005 onwards they spread out their wings and started doing shows in Amsterdam and other cities in Holland. Back then you could already tell they weren’t just hiphop purists. They incorporate the newest styles of dance music into their territory and present it in a unique style. Rugged and with a black soul.

Boemklatsch consists of 3 dj’s, a host and 2 vj’s. You can always pick out Dj/producer Mike Mago (Michiel Thomassen) by his wool beanie, even in summer. Dj/producer $jammie the Money stands out because of his colourful dress and his hard-hitting choice of tunes. Dj Illvester is the most eclectic of the 3. He’ll mix in an indie record without hesitation. MC Atactic (Dharmen Nokhai) would be perfectly happy if he could shout through a megaphone all day. VJ-duo Ramkraak (Roel Oude Nijhuis & Mark Assies) fill the screens with explosive and creative visuals.

Boemklatsch parties are now well known in cities all over Holland. Last summer they’ve played all major festivals in Holland (Lowlands, Dancevalley, Mysteryland etc) as well as The Sonar Festival in Barcelona, and festivals in Berlin and Antwerp. They are ready to expand even further beyond Dutch border and show the world what they do best: to rock a crowd till the bitter end!

The last years have been a rollercoaster ride for these guys. They’ve started producing and putting out their own records. They started up their own label BMKLTSCH RCRDS, and signed international stars like the Mightyfools as well as upcoming talent like Baskerville, RipTidE and Dem Slackers. They put out two mix-CD’s album ‘Mixing in Action’ and “DUMDUM Genetics #1” which both sold out in no time. Boemklatsch released their first studio album “Spontaneous Combustion” on April 17th. The album contains 11 tracks with unexpected international vocal features on diverse beats that represent their wide taste of dance music. But warning! Do not heat the cover! :)
